Will aspires to work in industry for a few years after graduation, before returning back for graduate school. Outside of the lab, Will enjoys working out, hanging out with his friends, and watching college football.

Tanish Sodhi is a chemistry major from Pune, in India. He joined the Humphrey Group in the summer of 2024 and worked on synthesizing and studying ligands and MOFs with Joseph. After graduating, he plans to continue studying chemistry in grad school. Outside the lab, Tanish loves sci-fi and fantasy novels, movies, drawing, and instrumental music.

Andrew is a chemistry major from Houston, Texas. He previously worked for 2 years in the Mullins Group researching nitrate additives for lithium ion batteries. He joined the Humphrey Group in the summer of 2024 and worked on producing MOF structured catalysts. In free time, he enjoys the NYT word games, spending time with friends, and watching sports. After finishing his chemistry degree, he plans on pursuing a PhD in chemistry.

Mauricio Agurcia

Mauricio Agurcia is a chemistry major from Houston, Texas. He joined the Humphrey Group in the summer of 2021 and has previously worked on synthesizing and studying phosphine coordination materials containing platinum and palladium complexes with Stephanie White. In the summer of 2022 he completed and REU and UC San Diego. In the Humphrey group, he worked with Benjamin Patterson on studying the intersection of MOF chemistry and DFT and then worked with Benjamin Siu on synthesizing MOFs. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Graeme Henkelman at UT Austin.

Courtney Rabara is a chemistry major from Corpus Christi, Texas. She joined the Humphrey Group in the fall of 2021 and worked on synthesizing and studying nanoparticles with Carolyn Brady. After finishing her chemistry undergraduate degree at UT, she plans to attend graduate school to pursue a PhD in chemistry.

Ananya is a materials chemistry major from Dallas, Texas who joined the Humphrey Group in the summer of 2023 where she worked to synthesize and characterize a novel MOF designed by Ben, her mentor. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career as a physician.

Brennan McKinney

Brennan graduated form the University of Texas in 2023 with BS in Chemistry. He worked with the Humphrey Group during his final two semesters. Working with Carolina Hernandez, he helped design the synthesis and characterization methods of gold, palladium and cobalt nanoparticles for the use of nitrate reduction in water sources. He presented those findings to UT research sponsors and faculty for the senior capstone project.

Morgan Marinelli is a chemical engineer from Houston, Texas. She joined the Humphrey Group in the fall of 2022 and worked with Dr. Jacob Troutman. She is currently working at Exxon.

Moritz is a Master’s student in Chemistry from the University of Würzburg, Germany. He spent a year at The University of Texas at Austin as part of an exchange program, supported by a DAAD scholarship. During his undergraduate studies, he conducted research in Organometallic Chemistry, focusing on the synthesis and reactivity of transition metal complexes featuring N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) and N-heterocyclic silylenes (NHSi). He joined the Humphrey Group in fall 2024, where he worked on the development of new Metal-Organic Frameworks.

Nicholas Challier

Originally from the UK, Nicholas was an exchange student from University College London (UCL). He joined the Humphrey group in the Spring of 2025, focusing on the synthesis of catalytic trimetallic nanoparticles. In his spare time, Nicholas enjoys songwriting and performing, as well as playing sport and hanging out with friends.

Finn Luedtke

Finn joined the Humphrey Group in November 2023. He graduated from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) with a degree in chemical engineering and is currently pursuing his subsequent master’s degree. His previous research interests were in the synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts and reaction kinetics. In the Humphrey Group, he worked on the development of new Metal-Organic Frameworks for catalysis.
